For sale: Fringe-top, 2-Seat Surrey carriage. Built around 1900 by the Durant-Dort Carriage Company of Flint Michigan, this would be among the final models of their horse-drawn carriage production. The Durant-Dort Company was the largest manufacturer of carriages in the US, but in 1908 William Durant founded General Motors and they transitioned to the manufacture of Horseless Carriages shortly thereafter. This particular Surrey was lovingly and meticulously restored by Conewango Carriage & Carts in Conewango Valley, NY. Their tag can be found along side of the original Durant-Dort tag on the rear axle. The finish is green paint with gold pin-striping and the interior is luxurious red velvet velour. It has not been used since completion of the restoration and has only been taken outdoors for photos. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Thanks for looking!
