Stagecoaches / Coaches for sale Ames IowaStagecoaches were wagons that had wooden tops and wooden wheels. They had rows of wooden seats that people could sit on or the people could sit on top if they ran out of room inside. Horses would be hooked to the stagecoaches and they would pull it. The coaches were used to carry people from town to town because it was much faster than walking. Stagecoaches could go places that railroads couldn't go. They were used in the 1800's and were an important part of transportation.

| This carriage, originally built in the 1890's, has been authentically restored with high quality craftsmanship. For instance, the through-tenon joinery and staggered-spoke wheels have been maintained. The wheels were rebuilt, and all of the wood was replaced, but the original hardware was used. The seat and back cushions are new, as is the patent leather dash. The carriage is light weight (220 pounds) and is museum-, competition-, and/or parade-ready.
